The work behind the files
Inside the audio
Closer to the original waveform.
How closely the encoded file follows the source recording. A score of 1 means a perfect correlation.
TDBR encoding0.951
Reference encoding0.557
One 63-second recording of Al-Fātiḥah by Ali Jaber. TDBR internal evaluation, September 2026. This measures waveform similarity, not how much better something sounds. Not a comparison with another retailer.
Preparing a library means considering how recordings are encoded as well as how they are brought together. Our internal evaluation explored the balance between file size and speech quality.
One sample. Two encodings.
| Measure | TDBR sample | Supplied reference |
|---|---|---|
| Waveform correlation | 0.951 | 0.557 |
| Speech-quality estimate (PESQ) | 3.47 | 2.83 |
| File size | 133,697 bytes | 188,865 bytes |
| Encoding | 16 kbps mono MP3 | 24 kbps mono MP3 |
The TDBR encoding used 29% less space and scored higher in this test. PESQ estimates speech quality; it is not a listener rating.
TDBR internal evaluation TR-2026-09. One approximately 63-second sample. These results apply to that sample only, not every library file. This is not an independent assessment or a comparison with another retailer. Encoding cannot restore detail absent from a source recording.
