• Remove the battery wrapper.
• Check the battery is the right way round.
• If the keypad is locked, press and hold MODE to unlock.
• If it has been left flat for months, charge for several hours.

Use the cable that came in the box, and plug the flat rectangular end into your charger. A USB-C to USB-C cable will usually not charge this radio. That is the type supplied with most recent phones. It is not a fault with your radio. Anything with a rectangular USB socket works: a computer, a power bank or an ordinary phone plug.

While charging, the battery symbol fills from right to left and stops when full. If it is still, it is not charging.

Switch the radio off while charging. First charge 6 hours, then 4 hours, even if the indicator fills quickly.

Your earphones have a microphone. Use plain headphones with no buttons on the cable.

Press and hold MENU, open System Setup, find Auto Power and set it to 00. Language is in the same menu.

• The card logo faces the back of the radio and clicks in.
• Type the track number, then press Play.
• Your own cards must be 32GB or smaller, FAT32, MP3 or WMA.
• Manage files on a computer, not with DEL.

The battery is a standard BL-5C and is user-replaceable. Stop using a swollen battery.

Take the battery out for 30 seconds and refit it. This is the reset.
